the Unicorn Fund: $75,000 Raised (and Counting!) for Queer Hamiltonians

At Unicorn Rebellion, we believe in creating spaces where everyone belongs—not just in business, but in life. That’s why we founded the Unicorn Fund, a giving initiative dedicated to supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and organizations in Hamilton. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’ve raised over $75,000 to date, directly funding initiatives that uplift and empower queer Hamiltonians.

Why It Matters

Queer people face disproportionate barriers when it comes to accessing essential resources, community spaces, and support networks. Whether it’s a trans youth struggling to find gender-affirming gear, a queer newcomer searching for community, or a child needing to see themselves reflected in the books they read—these grants change lives. The Unicorn Fund is about breaking down those barriers and ensuring that 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Hamilton don’t just survive, but thrive.

What We’ve Funded

Every dollar raised goes back into the community, providing critical resources and support. Here’s what we’ve been able to grant so far:

  • 2024 – $1,718 for New Vision Queer Newcomer Group

  • 2023 – $2,000 for Today’s Family: Queer-Friendly Books

  • 2022 – $5,500 for Compass: Gender Gear

  • 2021 – $900 for Speqtrum

These grants have helped provide gender-affirming gear, inclusive literature for kids, and safe spaces for queer newcomers and youth. And this is just the beginning.

How It Works

We partner with the Hamilton Community Foundation to ensure every donation is used effectively, reaching the people who need it most.

Be Part of the Change

Want to help us keep the momentum going? You can donate directly to the Unicorn Fund through Hamilton Community Foundation. Every contribution—big or small—makes a difference.

Together, we’re building a more inclusive Hamilton, one grant at a time.
